The Friday morning before I left on my Christmas trip, I had my usual appointment at my window table at Pilo’s, after which I had my hair appointment with Jimmy at BioBela. Having these two things to look forward to each Friday found me so very delighted to be living in Paris.
From my window table at Pilo’s that morning, I observed three lovely soft-spoken people come in and make their selections in English at the bakery counter. They settled with their coffees and sweets at the table just next to mine.
While I journaled happily, I couldn’t help but eavesdrop on their conversation, all in American English. It was very curious to me, and I wondered how they all knew each other. I got that the man and one woman were a couple, and the other woman was perhaps a friend from college who now lived in Paris.
They were speaking about entrepreneurial pursuits and life coaching in particular, and I was very intrigued. The tone of their conversation was very uplifting and positive. At several moments I wanted to pop in and say something but I didn’t. Yet.
It was time for me to leave, and as I went to get my jacket from the coat rack, my angels seemed to whisper that I ought to introduce myself to them. I collected my things at my table and as I did, I gently moved toward them to finally say something. I began by thanking them for the pleasure it was, to sit next to them and be inspired by their conversation!
We all ended up exchanging contact information. Sonia is a life coach in Paris, Monica and James were newlyweds on their honeymoon, and they’d only just met that morning, having connected through an online platform.
Monica and James were on their way to Modena, Italy to experience Michelin Star cuisine, and later on I messaged them one of my favorite restaurants from my time in Modena years ago.
Sonia and I remained in touch and eventually met at Pilo’s again a few weeks later. She was also my neighbor! I learned that originally the three of them were going to meet elsewhere that morning, but that café was closed for the holidays. Divine intervention brought us together that first day!
We spent hours together on that follow-up visit at Pilo’s and have kept in touch since. We’ll definitely spend time together on my next visit to Paris and I so look forward to it.
Sonia is such a lovely spirit and we’re both excited to see our friendship unfold! We both believe that nothing is random, we definitely met for a reason. I’m excited to introduce her to Lydie as well, they are neighbors and will hopefully become friends.
Let’s see what our connecting angels have in mind!
